Dog Held For Ransom Found Dead

Missing Bulldog Jaggar

Our condolences to Jennifer Thomas on her loss.

KELSO, Wash. – An English Bulldog that a Woodland, Wash., woman said was stolen from outside her home earlier this month and held for ransom was found dead by railroad tracks in Kelso, Wash., according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said a Kelso resident called them Monday to report a dead dog by the tracks that was hit by a passing train. When deputies arrived on the scene, they said it appeared the dog was the missing dog from Woodland named “Jaggar.”

Deputies said the dog’s remains were recovered and taken to the Cowlitz County Humane Society for an exam Tuesday. The dog was killed an estimated 48-72 hours before the remains were found, deputies said.

Jaggar’s owner Jennifer Thomas told KATU News earlier this month that her dog was taken from her driveway on Oct. 5. Three days later, Thomas said she received photos of her dog and text messages that demanded $1,000 and her prescription pain killer drugs.

In an interview with KATU News, Thomas read a text message that said “If you don’t do exactly as you’re told the next few messages will be of your friend slowly getting tortured to death. And do us both a favor, keep this to yourself, no cops.”

Thomas did not hear from the caller or callers again, deputies said.

“This appears to be a sad ending to this part of the investigation,” said Cowlitz County Sheriff Mark Nelson. “It doesn’t mean that we’re done with the investigation. We’ll follow any leads we get to find out who took Jaggar.”

Thomas told KATU News she saw two people in her driveway before she discovered her dog was missing.

Deputies said they told Thomas that Jaggar’s remains were found.

I can only imagine her grief at losing her beloved pet. I am so disgusted by the actions of those horrible cowards.

Kelso, WA is full of drug addicts, particularly meth heads.  I believe one or both of the people that took this dog knew this woman.

I agree Hulagirl2000… I am guessing that Woodland and Kelso are pretty close in distance, correct?  Somebody knew the owner was taking painkiller medication.

That is pretty awful and disgusting!  Even though my dogs and cats drive me crazy, I still love them to death!

Prayers go out to Ms. Thomas and to Jagger!

let me only hope there’s a special place in hell for the people who are responsible for this, and may they rot there in eternity alongside Qadafi, Hussein and Bin Laden.  I’m so sorry Jennifer.  Please know there are thousands of people out there who share your grief and horror, and I pray Jaggar just rest in peace now.

This saddens me – deeply. I’m SO sorry for your loss of Jagger … I’m constantly amazed and infuriated at the lows that ‘humans’ will bow to …
