Once Again, Police Shoot Dog On His Own Property, This Time In Michigan

Police Car Lights

Was the dog really charging them or was he just running up to the Officers to say hi? All the police said was that the dog came out of the door charging them. But the police were in someone’s backyard without the owner’s knowledge. Whose dog wouldn’t run at a stranger who startled them in their own backyard?

Obviously, I wasn’t there, so I’ll never know what really happened. But what I do know is that the killing of a family dog on his own property or in his own house is becoming all too common.

The only answer here is giving police departments more knowledge and training about dogs behavior before they run into this issue. And I’m afraid that as the popularity of dogs rises, we will see many more of these senseless shootings.

And that just opens up another question. Is your dog next?

I hope the family has better luck than we did i am sorry for there loss we just went throgh this a few months ago and a cop shot our american bull dog he is still alive but still has the bullet in his neck. Shouldnt matter the dog breed the cops still shoulda asked permisson to be on the property or let someone know they was there no family should have to go through this i think some cops r just gun crazy and its not right they need more training or something.

There have been far too many of these cases lately. it seems cops are too quick to draw their guns in these situations. More quickly if the dog in question is a pit bull. But what disturbs me more than that is the seeming trend towards cops disregarding the rights of property owners, and entering premises without leave and basically murdering dogs for reacting the way dogs do when their home is threatened by strangers. It has to stop! What makes these jackasses think they can get away with this type of behavior? Municipalities need to rein in their officers.

These killings are senseless! What if it was the owner running out of his house thinking that police were intruders? They wouldn’t just shoot, they would announce themselves giving the home owner time to respond appropriately, Same tactics should happen here if the owner was with the dog. If not, they should only wound the dog IF AND ONLY IF IT WAS ATTACKING!

It seems police are given full immunity to shoot whatever dog they want. If I went into someones yard without letting them know and a dog came out to protect his property and I shot him/her then I would be up on charges. Police don’t seem to have to follow the same laws and rules as we do. These officers should be disiplined to the fullest extent. Killing a family pet is like shooting their child. They should also have to replace the dog.

EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO START SOME KIND OF REVOLT! IT SEEMS VIOLENCE IS ALL THESE COCKSMOKERS UNDERSTAND! JUST LIKE YOU DIDN’T MIND YOUR PARENTS BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, IT’S BECAUSE YOU WERE AFRAID TO GET YOUR ASS BEAT. IF COPS START BEING KILLED, THEY’LL THINK TWICE BEFORE FUCKING UP!

I completely agree. If I shot my neighbors dog I’d be in county lock up, hopefully that officer suspended and on his way there! I encountered a very similar situation years ago with my pitt not letting a police officer in when our front door got left open while we were gone. My girl stood at that front stoop and was not going to let that man in. She didn’t cross the thresh hold, she didn’t charge but when I pulled into my driveway the officer had his taser out and was ready to tase her! As soon as she saw me she sat like a good girl and started wagging her tail. She did exactly what she was supposed to do and what we had trained her to do. Maybe they should ask the question back at the police academy training “are you scared of spiders? snakes? dogs? small fluffy kitty cats?” because anyone who is I don’t want to pay their wages to “protect” me

Where can we get kevlar vests for our dogs? Any body know? Are Poodles and Chihuahuas next?

That’s why we built a dog run in our back yard. Anyone who hasn’t done this yet, should! If only for your dogs safety!
