Guess, the schnauzer-poodle mix puppy that made national headlines when he was nearly shipped to Georgia via the U.S. mail, got himself a happy, new home.
Terri Ford of Minneapolis was the winner in a carefully screened pool of 55 wishful adopters at the Minneapolis Animal Care and Control.
”I didn’t think I’d be coming home with him,” Ford said. “I’m totally excited. ?
Guess’ previous owner, Stacey Champion, 39, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty after officials said she tried to mail the dog in a box with no air holes, water or food via the U.S. Postal Service.
Thankfully the dog was found after the package moved unexpectedly and a postal worker heard panting inside.
??Champion said she had poked air holes in the box and also put a bottle of water inside, though none was reported found. She also admitted to telling the post workers that there was a toy robot inside of the box.
Officials said the dog most likely would not have survived the journey to Georgia.
