Missing Alert! Puppy Stolen From Washington Humane Society in Wash., D.C.

By Will Thomas

WASHINGTON – The Washington Humane Society is asking for the public’s help to find a four-month-old dog snatched from his kennel at the New York Avenue shelter Monday afternoon.

Three suspects were caught on surveillance video taking the pitbull named Ivan from the shelter.

The individuals entered the shelter on 1201 New York Avenue, NE posing as potential adopters.

Once inside the shelter the suspects took Ivan from his cage and escaped by breaking through a wooden fence behind the building.

“We’re hoping that he’s not intended to be used as bait in a fight or fighting or anything of that sort,” said Scott Giacoppo, VP of Public Affairs and Chief Programs Officer for the Washington Humane Society.

The Washington Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for Ivan’s safe return.

Washington Humane Society officials are asking anyone with information about Ivan to call the Washington Humane Society/DC Animal Care and Control at 202-724-3834 or through their web site at www.washhumane.org .
