SAN DIEGO — After an international investigation, help from abroad and a little tenacity, the case of the Italian German shepherd has been solved.
Five days after the wayward pup showed up at the Gilman Drive Park-N-Ride, county animal officials were able to track down its owner Monday to a Coronado apartment.
But one mystery remains: How did the dog get from Coronado to La Jolla? Authorities say they’ll probably never know.
The owner, Edmond Stevens, told authorities that he bought the puppy in Italy while stationed aboard the U.S. Navy command ship Mount Whitney a year ago.
