Owner stunned after teens allegedly killed dog while burglarizing his Kentwood home

KENTWOOD — A couple still reeling after their dog was killed when two teens broke into their home this week say a backyard grave is all they have left of their family pet.

A police officer, touched by their grief, brought them a memorial plaque to mark the final resting place of their dog, Pinto, behind their Jefferson Street SE home.

“It’s crazy, I don’t understand how they could do that,” Abel Soto said of the young suspects. “They had no thought for human life, or for dog life. My dog’s dead.”

Soto, 50, said he left his home in the 4400 block of Jefferson just before 1 p.m. Monday to cash a check for his wife at a nearby bank. When he returned about 15 minutes later, he noticed the bathroom light was on, which seemed strange since his wife had left for work.

Animal killing by teens has shown to be in direct consequences to becoming a killer of humans. They killed the dog because it was barking trying to warn that something bad was happening to its property. Not much to kill a tiny lap dog like a doxie, they should be tried adults with the felony of animal abuse leading to death and made to do community service in some way to promote animals, such as cleaning kennels in a aspca or working with the community to trap and release wild cats. anyway in a service to animals who they see as having no value in life to themselves.I hope this sticks with them thru their whole lives, what woman is going to want a man who beat a dog to death…i feel such sorrow for the family and the pain of losing a loved pet like this.
