Last week, six severed dog heads were found in a dumpster belonging to a Largo, Florida restaurant. The dumpster is owned by the Tucson Southwest Grill and an investigation is underway to determine who placed the dog heads in the dumpster and why.

The dog heads were discovered by Tucson’s Southwest Grill’s kitchen manager who immediately notified his boss. The manager of the restaurant was quick to assure the community that they were in no way connected to the gruesome find. Though the investigation continues, it appears that the dog heads were dumped by a medical laboratory.

Many were horrified to hear of the discovery and feared that the dog heads were severed as some form of animal cruelty; this wasn’t the case. According to reports by WTSP, the heads were used for veterinary training purposes at a licensed medical facility. The name of the medical facility has not been released due to the active investigation, yet many question why the facility would dump the heads in a restaurant dumpster.

The discovery has left more questions than answers as the community tries to ascertain what medical facility would be guilty of improperly disposing the dog heads, what type of research or testing was performed on the animals, and where did the dogs come from originally.
