Life gets getter better and better for Olympic gold medalist Steve Holcomb. Holcomb and his four-man bobsled team upset the German powerhouse at the Vancouver Olympics and won the USA’s first gold in the event since 1948.
While he was visiting the Today show after the Olympics on March 5, he fell head over heels in love with a dog. During the weekly rescue segment, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever caught Holcomb’s eye. At the end of the show, the show announced Holcomb had offered to adopt the dog.
Today, the Golden gets his golden Olympian. The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is flying Bailey to Denver to be with Holcomb.
Bailey was brought to Animal Care and Control of NYC on Feb. 23. Her owner had abandonned her by leaving her with someone and never returning. Holcomb said there was an instant connection when he saw the dog.
