Animal lovers, would you want Michael Vick to have dogs again? Tuesday, he was telling Newark, N.J. school kids he wishes he could have a dog and hopes to eventually.
Vick also told them why dogfighting is bad. It is about the sixth appearance his made to talk about his dogfightint days, according to this story on NBCNewYork.com.
Raising and training pit bulls on his rural Virginia home got Vick booted out of the NFL for two years straight, landing him straight into the federal pen at Leavenworth.
“I wish I could have a dog right now more than anything in the world,” Vick admitted while acknowledging that his judge has banned him from owning dogs after a lifetime spent with the animals.
“My goal now is to help more animals than I hurt and help turn a negative situation in a positive,” he added.
His New Jersey appearance was about the sixth he’s made with the Humane Society of the United States since his release from prison and house arrest back in July. And there will be more.
“He’s said he will do this for many years,” said Humane Society President Wayne Pacelle.
Pacelle said Vick’s appearances are voluntary, not part of any parole.
“I should have known better,” Vick admitted to a couple of hundred kids at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Newark.
He said he’s hopeful one day he’ll have a dog again. “I don’t know when that day is going to come. It’s up to my judge at his discretion,” he said.
Let's hope to God That judge NEVER changes that condition! Wants a dog more than anything else? Really? Ok, give up your football career, devote your time to helping animals for normal pay. Yeah, didn't think so! Anyone who could do the things he did to those poor animals should not be allowed to even come near animals, let alone own one!
He doesn't deserve the experience of having a dogs admiration and love. Micheal gave up that right when he beat, burned, tortured and killed those poor dogs before. There is a disconnect inside someones mind when they do the things he did, and allowed to happen. This is all for show and P.R. If he was not worried about his fan base and his NFL money and acceptance of the fans of whatever team he will be playing on in the upcoming years, he would not be doing anything that he was not ordered to do. What school or club allowed this person to talk to children about his past violence with animals??? Micheal Vick is only sharing his story b/c he was caught. If he was not caught, this violence would be going on as I write this. No one should give him the attention to explain his irrational bizarre behaviors. Only someone with hate and violence embedded in them would act this way. We have not heard the end of Mr. Vick. Once an abuser, always an abuser. Its in his genes.
This pathetic low life scum does not deserve anything especially not a dog.. How can anyone in the right mind watch this happen and watch these innocent dogs die and kill each other… This topic makes me so upset and the more upsetting part is knowing that he didn’t really serve his time .. If this person was just your ordinary person they would be serving the years that was demanded from them.. But since this scum had money let’s just give him 2 years… You gotta love how the system works…
I can’t believe some of the comments on this thing! People can change, although we have no idea what he actually feels in relation to his past dogfighting incidents, he can have remorse. And to the person who complained about him speaking to children. MORE OF THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE! Our Countires children need to learn why dogfighting is wrong and why more needs to be done to stop it, and what better person than somebody who has experienced it first hand. And to him having a dog, well I personally think that it would be a fabulous idea ( provided the law kept an eye on the dog) Having a dog in his life that shows him unconditional love will help him realize even more why dogfighting is wrong. As well, the dogs can forgive him, I bet if he were to see one of the Pitbulls he formerly owned for dogfighting they would have forgiven him.. if a dog can forgive, then we can’t we the “superior” Species forgive as well?!
Negative to positive you could never change what you did imagine If those dogs were children might as well of been looking for love and so loyal and would do anything for owners approval you will never be forgotten and it’s not the good way your a killer and you can’t undo your past people should have addleast twenty years in prison micheal dick is horrible* Vick but I’m glad he is trying
