ITALY — On April 28, an Italian demonstration against vivisection turned into a historic event when dozens of animal activists entered the Green Hill breeding facility, known for supplying research labs with as many as 250 dogs per month, to rescue 30 dogs that were slated for use in experiments.
Activists climbed fences and opened the kennels, taking away the beagles, some were just puppies, others pregnant. Dogs were passed over fences and taken away by advocates determined to spare them from a life of misery.
During the rescue, 12 activists were arrested, and authorities re-captured several of the rescued dogs. The arrested individuals are being held at a prison in Brescia, and will likely be charged with trespassing, robbery and resisting authority.
Former Tourism Minister Michela Brambilla traveled to the prison to visit those arrested for their involvement in the raid. The former minister noted that the demonstrators’ actions are representative of ”the high level of exasperation felt by citizens, who will no longer tolerate such shameful activity in our country. The thousands of people who for months have staged every form of civil protest against Green Hill are representing the feelings of millions of Italians.”
UPDATE: The activists have been released from jail.

how discusting, how about do the experiments on cold blooded killers or even better rapists and child molesters. leave the poor dogs alone. you sick sick monsters
I agree 100%. I have always said that experiments should be done on humans and who better than criminals. If they survive then they have earned another chance at life, if they die, oh well, saves the taxpayers money for more important things.
Where did the beagles go after being released?
God love those people !
It’s time to end this obscenity. The future is going to be amazing… let’s all embrace it, along with our animal friends. Thanks to all the beautiful people who tried to help these beagles. I am glad they are out of prison, but sad for the dogs who are still in theirs.
Wish I could have been there to help! :)))))
I would love to adopt one of those beagles, but they will not transport them and only adopt them to people that live near California 🙁
I really applaud their efforts, as well as all those other brave, heroic people around the planet trying to save animals — from cities to barnyards to laboratories to the oceans — from cruelty and abuse by what are laughingly considered the “intelligent” species. God bless all of you and hopefully one day humanity will catch up with you and you can devote yourself to just loving your pets!
Thank you Italy! It needs to start somewhere! You are all heros to me! Especailly becuase you didn’t hide in secrecy, you were proud to stand up for a most worthy cause.! Here is hoping you have started a worldwide trend!
That makes me proud to be Italian!!!
BRAVO! Congratulations to all of those protesters from Sydney, Australia! Please keep rolling the ball!!
Proud to be 50% Italian! God bless them for taking it by own hands!
