Boycott Movie "The Grey" For Its Harmful Depictions of Wolves

The GreyDirector Joe Carnahan’s new movie “The Grey” has raised concerns among animal rights groups due to its depictions of wolves as bloodthirsty, dangerous killers. The movie’s release is poorly timed, as several states have removed wolves from their endangered species lists, allowing hunters to legally kill them on sight.

While preparing for their roles, Liam Neeson and other “The Grey” cast members crossed the line from fantasy into reality: as a form of method acting, they requested real frozen wolf meat to be flown in to their filming location in Alaska.

Though the wolf was already dead prior to the actors’ request, it is unclear why the animal was killed.

The movie’s subject matter, combined with the actors’ unnecessary consumption of real wolf meat, are disrespectful to these native creatures and will perpetuate negative stereotypes of wolves. Please sign the petition to boycott this irresponsible film.

Oohh, I thought it might have to do with that “curse” thingy. But yeah this movie is going to suck for the wolf community! Boo on this movie!

For god’s sake people get a grip on it.  I will watch it and decide for myself.  I don’t need anyone deciding anything for me.  I am against animal cruelty but remember people these are stunts.  I’m sure no wolves were harmed in the making of this movie, as any others.

Wrong, actually. Per Liam Neilson interview – They ate actual wolf meat, so yeah, I’d say there was some harm done.

@1aa5b8782e382b65fbfbf340641bd9a3:disqus , the point is not that wolves were actually harmed during the making of this movie (that would be illegal, anyway). What’s important is the message this movie conveys about wolves–a species that has been plagued nearly to extinction by negative stigmas. This movie feeds those stigmas. I hope you WILL watch the movie and decide for yourself if the portrayal of wolves helps the species, or harms them. And if it harms them, I hope you will speak out about it.

What is the matter you are being a Nazi deleting comments so the public can’t see the truth. You do book burning on the weekend for fun?

NEW ROCKFORD, DAK, March 7 – The news has just reached here that a father and son, living several miles northeast of this city, were destroyed by wolves yesterday. The two unfortunate men started to a haystack some ten rods from the house to shovel a path around the stack when they were surrounded by wolves and literally eaten alive. The horror-stricken mother was standing at the window with a babe in her arms, a spectator to the terrible death of her husband and son, but was unable to aid them. After they had devoured every flesh from the bones of the men, the denizens of the forest attacked the house, but retired to the hills in a short time. Investigation found nothing but the bones of the husband and son. The family name was Olson. Wolves are more numerous and dangerous now than ever before known in North Dakota.” (Saint Paul Daily Globe, March 8, 1888)

exactly guest but they don’t care and i love the comment shoot on site in the article, thats not how the law works there are a lot of restrictions still. To the above that said it would be illegal to harm a wolf to make the film not true as long as there was a tag and legal hunting license. the reason they were removed from the endangered species list was because they are not anywhere near extinct. Get over yourselves

First off, the wolf meat consumed was some that was donated.  The film crew did NOT kill a wolf merely to eat their flesh.  Second, this is JUST a movie!  Get a grip!  I see Disney movies that pitch propaganda about wolves!  Third, the Canadian Gray wolf is a subspecies which was INTRODUCED to the lower 48 states and are “A NON NATIVE, NON ESSENTIAL EXPERIMENTAL POPULATION” per the 1994 Legislative Act which allowed their release!
