New York Man Killed His Dog Because He Didn’t Like Him

A William Richerson Utica, New York man told a judge in court this week that he didn’t see anything wrong with killing the family dog by shooting it twice in the head in April because it was his dog.

William Richerson, 58, pleaded guilty in Oneida County Court to aggravated cruelty to an animal and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.

He faces two years in state prison when he is sentenced by Judge Barry M. Donalty.

During his plea, Richerson explained that he didn’t like Sam, the family’s Jack Russell Terrier and admitted to shooting the dog in the basement on April 5.

When Richerson’s wife called police, the officers were led to a gun cabinet that contained several firearms, including a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol and a .380-caliber Colt semi-automatic pistol.

Richerson did not have a license for those firearms, which he had brought with him after moving to the county from another state.

Although the felony aggravated animal cruelty charge can be punished by local jail time, according to the Agriculture and Markets law, the violent felony firearms charge carries a state prison sentence.

wow!! Is that what we do in society when we don’t like something, we take it to the basement and shoot it. My Lord wake up world. This was one of Gods creatures that was defenceless. Thankfully this gentlemen is going to spend 2 yrs behind bars to think about what he had done. There is definetly something wrong with this picture!!!

I agree with you I think that dogs and cats are gods Angels here on earth helping to look after Man kind who else could love such a violent stupid species as we………I feel that if we really are the smartest or what ever we are species it is our JOB to protect the planet and the other animals and the trees and I think we are doing a terrible job……..
