Dog That Survived Plane Crash Is Found Alive

Dog survives plane crash
Parks Canada employees found Rusty, a six-year-old border collie, a short distance from the mountainside where Ed Fedaj died when his single-engine plane crashed.

It’s an absolute miracle he survived.

Searchers have found the pet dog that survived unharmed following a plane crash in Yoho National Park, British Columbia that killed its owner.

Parks Canada employees found Rusty, a six-year-old Border Collie, a short distance from the mountainside where Ed Fedaj died when his single-engine plane crashed Wednesday afternoon.

Fedaj, 59, was flying home to Williams Lake, British Columbia after visiting relatives in southern Alberta, Canada.

The dog will live with Fedaj’s younger brother, Ted.

“There’s not a scratch on him,” Ted said from the family’s farm in Champion, British Columbia.

Searchers found Fedaj’s Cessna 180 at an elevation of about 1,500 meters on the side of Mount King, near Golden, British Columbia.

Authorities quickly removed Fedaj’s body due to a high avalanche risk, but were unable to follow tracks leading away from the wreckage to find Rusty before leaving the scene.
The dog’s survival is a small blessing amid the family’s mourning for Fedaj, whom Ted called “the nicest guy you ever saw.”

The British Columbia Coroners Service and the federal Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash but haven’t determined what caused it.

What an incredible story! Sad, and happy aspect to it.I am kind of shocked that what killed the owner, didn’t even scratch the pet?!
I am glad that he will have a home, and that he was found by people, and not a wolf, or cougar. (if they are inhabitants of the area that is) Anyway, you know what I mean.
Thank you for sharing this story. RIP to his owner, and wishes for a happy home, and that he is treated well, the way he deserves, After all he has suffered a loss as well.

that is awesome to bad they couldn’t get the dogs breed right. The one in the picture is an Australian Shepperd not a Border Collie.
