Thank you all for your patience. Here is the latest on Sugar Ray’s recovery.
The veterinarian indicates that Sugar Ray is doing pretty well at this point. He is eating eagerly the small but frequent feedings he is given. He has gained some weight. His excretory functions are now up and running. His body temperature has improved. He does NOT have non-regenerative anemia and his blood cells ARE regenerating. Sugar Ray also has started wagging his tail and back end just a little!
At this point the doctor is “less cautious and more optimistic.”
Again, a reminder that this process is going to be a long one. We appreciate everyone’s interest in his condition and interest in adoption. It is way too early for that, however.
Because the treatment (which did include a transfusion) will be costly, the APL is grateful for any and all support. And to the many questions as to whether the on-line donation application uses PayPal, the answer is “yes.” Those wishing to help may click here.
Sugar Ray looks so much like my boxer who was atleast responsibly given up at the humane society. I am so happy to see he has a fighting spirit and will continue to pray for him. We need stricter laws on animal neglect and abuse, those who abuse animals do not value life and are no doubt dangerous in other ways. We need to continue to be supportive of these sweet animals. Ivan (our boxer) is hoping for full recovery for you and an extra prayer you find the ideal forever home.

He is the most beautiful baby boxer. I think he is a angel and deserves to have the best parents or hopefully parent ((((me)))) I’m praying hard and asking all my friends that love me to pray for me to have him as my family. When my baby boxer 3 yr old girl goes back to my ex-s house she has to go on a diet I spoil her so much. I want to give her a baby brother and keep sugar with me always and him be happy the rest of his precious life. And Becky I see the sparkle too. God love you for seeing that change in his little face. I see that and the determination on his little face that makes me just want to kiss his little lips!!!!
I do hope you are successful in adopting this little Darling as I know he will be loved and cared for, for the rest of his life with someone as wonderful as you, you deserve each other, we are all praying that you can both be together, love Val and family XXXfrom the Uk.
Cheryl u deserve this sweet baby. I am praying that you get him. He will truly be loved with all your heart. You are a wonderful human being who works so hard for not only your animals but every one else’s as well. You have been a blessing to me in my search for my lost baby. I have been following Sugar Rays progress from the first time I heard about him, it’s so wonderful that he is doing so well due to your loving kindness, my friend Chery has been sending her love constantly to him she is a wonderful person who devotes her life to her babies Dogs, I pray she is successful in adopting him when the time comes. What ‘Sugar Ray’ needs now after all the loving care you have given him is a life long loving home.
I know that he would find this in abundance with Cheryl, she would give him all the love that he could
possibly receive, I am praying that she will be adopting him very soon and I shall look forward to hearing that
