Sure, your dog keeps the letter wielding postman from attacking, but would he take a bullet on your behalf?
Dog owner Osmar Persisco of Garibaldi, Brazil, knows the answer is “yes” after his pet Max leapt to defend him from armed robbers, taking three bullets along the way.
Persisco was parking his truck near Max’s favourite field when two armed robbers approached him and demanded the keys to his vehicle.
Persisco resisted and the thieves opened fire, drawing blood after grazing the 47-year-old’s forehead with a bullet.
That’s when Max lost his cool.
“He saw the blood and was furious,” Persisco told Brazilian newspaper Globo. “He left like a rocket to attack the thieves. One of them ran away, but Max dominated the other one. To defend himself, the thief ended up shooting the dog. Max thwarted the assault and saved my life.”
Max was hit twice in his chest and once in his leg, but by then he had scared off the potential thieves.
Persisco rushed the heroic pet he had adopted three years earlier to his local vet. Max is expected to make a full recovery.
“If I didn’t have my dog around, they would have killed me,” Persisco told the paper. “He’s my hero.”
Great story…but that is a boxer not a pit bull
definitely a mix
most of the APBT’s out there are some sort of mix..problem with the breed is all the irresponsible backyard breeders trying to make a quick $$
Hi Kristin this story is not from the US. In Brazil we have Pit Bulls, not APBTs, and the dog is a Pit Bull.
Probably a mix.
boxer/pitbull mix?
I think that is a boxer.
Boxer/Pit Bull, my friend has one that looks EXACTLY like it. Good job, great story, fabulous dog!! Surely takes a “bite“ out of the ignorant excuse that all pit bulls are vicious people killers 🙂
Ah grasshoppers…. YOU have figured out ONE of the major problems associated with BSL. Good work.
Boxers are being killed by the hundreds in places where they have BSL laws because of stupid people that don’t know the difference between pitbulls and boxers .BTW pitbulls should not be killed for no reason either and that is why BSL is so cruel.Doesn’t matter what breed the animal is if it has done nothing wrong then it shouldn’d have to die.
BEAUTIFUL STORY,BEAUTIFUL DOG.
THANK GOD HE WILL SURVIVE.
Seriously. Well Said.
Can we all agree that dog rocks? Whatever he is?
Here’s a boxer that I’m used to: http://www.thedogfiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Boxer-head.jpg
Personally I don’t care what kind of dog he is he’s frickin’ awesome !!
It is nice that a “PItt Bull” got a good rap for a change even if it is a mix, I say HOOOORAYYY!!!!
It’s a pit/boxer mix probably. That doesn’t matter really. Dogs are simply amazing. Pit bulls are the most loyal breed you will come across. They are people loving dogs. This is a great story and it made my day!
Great story! Boxer Pit mix and yes the problem of BSL is right in your face in this story, so nice extended storyline, too! Denver insisted a Boxer was a Pit and they wanted to kill this man’s dog – had to get an AKC judge to come down to testify it was a Boxer. What a wonderful dog!
Way to go Max!!! You’re a good boy!!!!!
That dog was your guardian angel. Such a wonderful dog!!!! Your best friend for life. Give him a big hug from me………..
congrats and what a wonderful dog! he needs a steak dinner tonight. Hope he makes a full, helthy recovery, and you to!!! Best of luck and prayers!
That isn’t a pit bull. It is either boxer or part boxer, but deffinetly NOT a pit bull.
It might be a pit/boxer mix but it isn’t like any Boxer I’ve ever seen. I’m working on a Boxer episode of the Dog Files right now and it looks nothing them. My friend also has three boxers and they look nothing like this dog. My neighbors have a pit and this looks exactly like him. If you go up in the comments you’ll see a pic of a boxer I uploaded. Looks nothing like it. But then, it really doesn’t matter. Dogs are dogs are dogs.
He’s enough of a pit bull that cities that outlaw pit bulls would try to kill him.
He definitely has some Boxer coloring, but his head and body shape and size do read some kind of pit bull breed (probably APBT). In fact, I’ll bet if it weren’t for his coloring, nobody would question calling him a pit bull.
Fantastic story. It’s amazing how wonderfully loyal dogs are and yet some people still misunderstand them so much. Any dog is capable of being ‘dangerous’ as Pit Bulls etc are labelled. It’s more to do with what us humans do with them that make them this way,
Such a gorgeous boy – inside and out!! Courage and heroism comes packaged in many forms – this time it was Max. Way to go sweet boy – praying for a fast recovery!!
That cutie dog certainly sent a message to those thieves that no one messes with his owner and gets away with it.
If he had attacked a child or someone for no reason, ya’ll all would be ready and willing to call him a pit bull.. now here is a good story, and everybody trying to deny his breed. Geez, these dogs just can’t win…If this dog was in the pound, he would be labeled PIT BULL for sure. IF this dog attacked for no reason, the media would have him labeled pit bull, all over the front page…
