They tell me I’m a good boy, I love people and I don’t know why I was left in this place where I don’t get to follow my people around. I’ve been at the shelter since 5/20 and I heard my time is almost up. They said I’ve been ‘Red-listed’ that does not sound good! Please come save me, I want to have my own people to love again!

A wild bear made itself at home in a Portage neighborhood, but he was no match for the family’s dog.
The family captured video as the two came face-to-face. It appears the bear was actually startled to see the dog, as she stands her ground and wins the face off.
The DNR says this sort of encounter is becoming more common in Wisconsin. Wardens say if you see a bear the best advice is to make a lot of noise. They even suggest taking a bell with you if you’re walking in the woods. They say just never turn your back and run.

CANNES, France — A boxer called Boss, who sparks a deadly stampede of Friesian cows in Stephen Frears’ film “Tamara Drewe,” on Friday scooped the Palm Dog prize at Cannes.
“Boss was a complete superstar and was crucial at innumerable plot moments and was the doggy denouement of the film,” said Toby Rose, the organiser of the unofficial canine prize he awards along with leading British film critics.
The boxer had to fight off competition from an Irish wolfhound with which Russell Crowe bedded down after Lady Marian chased him out of her bedroom in “Robin Hood,” the film that opened the festival.
But the fact that Boss’s cow stampede killed off a main character in “Tamara Drewe” clinched it for the boxer, said Rose.
He opened the high-kitsch award ceremony by greeting the small audience in the British Film Centre pavilion on the Cannes beachfront with his customary greeting: “Ladies and gentlemen, dogs and bitches.”
The producer of Frears’ film was on hand to accept the trophy, a diamante collar with the words Palm Dog stitched into it.
Last year a 3D dog from the Pixar-Disney comedy “Up” took the award.
In 2008 it was won by a mongrel whose owner gets arrested for stealing dog-food in “Wendy and Lucy”. One year it went to a hound that was no more than a chalk outline in “Dogville” by Denmark’s Lars von Trier.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Palm Dog prize.

The Dog Files is so pleased to let you know that all five dogs from our 2nd Adoption Sunday have been placed in their forever homes or have been taken in by incredible rescue groups located along the east coast. Here’s the List.
Molly the pup was an extreme case. She’s spent most of her life on a concrete floor in an outside shelter. When a volunteer went to pick her up, the poor, stressed out pup bit him. She was then placed in quarantine for ten days to make sure she didn’t have rabies. Luckily she didn’t. But after the ten days the shelter determined that if she bit again, she’d be put down.
Maybe Molly knew, because she didn’t bite again.
She’s now at a rescue group were they will work with her issues before putting her up for adoption. We are so pleased to hear this!

A Connecticut couple has been reunited with their dog, days after he bolted from their campsite Saturday in Delaware.
Chris and Kathie Gagne of Manchester, Conn., drove to Dover International Speedway last weekend with their two dogs to watch the NASCAR races, but they say a German shepherd spooked their Boston terrier, Brady, and he took off.
The couple vowed not to leave Dover until they found Brady. Over the next few days they received reports of sightings, but on Wednesday morning, three men spotted Brady and caught him.
The Gagnes say they were overwhelmed by the support they received from the community while their dog was missing, including offers of food or a place to stay.
They say they may come back to Dover, but next time they won’t bring their dogs. Brady, named for quarterback Tom Brady, had attended the race before. According to a story from the race website, the posting of an amber alert helped rally the community in the search.
