COLUMBUS – A ”pit bull” would no longer be deemed an inherently vicious dog by virtue of its existence under a bill overwhelmingly passed by the Ohio House Thursday.

The measure now heads for the Senate, which is unlikely to deal with the issue before lawmakers recess for the summer next week.

“I’m offering this amendment to ensure that we’re not capturing, impounding, and terminating an animal simply based on its breed,” said Rep. Matt Szollosi (D., Oregon).

“It is unjust to punish owners by taking their pet even if they have raised a well-behaved, family friendly dog,” he said.

Pit Bulls deserve to be alive, the breed is not the problem. The owners are!!! Very rare that a dog is aggressive by nature. No one is born aggressive, but all of us on this earth has the potential to become aggressive. Our lives shape us, sadly dogs, animals in general get the worst of humans far too many times. They too get emotional scars, we need to help the ones that has those troubles, not label them and on top, blame all dogs out there for it. This is one of those topics where I ask, where is the humans sensibility, compassion and intelligence gone, for me makes no sense. No dog should be called vicious, but some do need special help and care, to get out of there sadness and scars!!!
