A day after Polk animal-service officers rescued 261 dogs from an animal-rescue group that was run out of a home filled with urine, feces, bare floors and scratched-out walls, the public stepped forward to help an overburdened agency, the sheriff said Friday.
“We’ve had people bring food and blankets,” Sheriff Grady Judd said Friday evening. “One man brough $800 worth of dog food. That man may be a millionaire, but he didn’t look like he had $800 to give away.”
Meanwhile, the couple at the heart of the massive dog-rescue operation, the largest Polk County has ever undertaken, were released Friday from jail without having to post bail.
