Dog And 11 Pups Found In Perris, CA. Make It Big On Web

Live TV : Ustream

An emaciated, tick-ridden German Shepherd found starving in a Perris backyard has become an international Internet sensation, as she and her 11 puppies are nursed back to health on a live Webcam.

Southern California German Shepherd Rescue volunteers said it was a miracle that the mother dog, which they have named ”Juno,” was able to give birth to 11 healthy pups the day before animal control authorities, acting on a worried neighbor’s phone tip, broke into a backyard to retrieve the dog and her litter.

”She was emaciated and full of ticks,” said Barbara Cavanaugh, in a newspaper article. ”It was an amazing thing that she gave birth to all of them.”

The family unit is living at a volunteer’s house in San Diego County, and their e-exploits are streaming 24-hours a day at their web site.

More than 130,000 viewers have checked the stream, which today showed a pile of sleeping furballs on a bed, as well as five or so black-and-white pups fighting over a stuffed toy.

The pups will be available for adoption during the rescue group’s annual fundraiser, Barktoberfest, to be held Oct. 18 at Markim Pet Resort in Carmel Valley, near San Diego. Tickets for the charitable event include admission to a beer garden, food and entertainment, and can be purchased at www.barktoberfestsd.com.
