Updated: Navy Seal's Therapy Dog Shot Dead By Texas Punks

Update, 04/13/09

Here’s an update on alleged killers of Marcus Lettrell’s dog, Dasy.

Marcus Luttrell is a hero. The truest kind. The lone survivor of a Navy Seal team that was surrounded by the Taliban in the mountains of Afganistan.

To help him get over his injuries, he was given a Labrador Retriever as a therapy dog. He named it Dasy, after the initials of his fallen comrades. Last week, some punks, who’ve killed dogs before, shot Dasy dead with a .357 Magnum in Marcus’s front yard.

They picked the wrong dog owner.

Let’s hope the killers get the maximum sentence even if it is just two years.

Since reading Lone Survivor when it was first released, as I have a friend in The Teams, I have followed Mr. Latrell's progress mainly through his friend Glenn Beck. This story is so disturbing on so many levels I almost can't believe it. SEAL or everyday dog owner such as myself, it is unimaginable that human beings could kill someone;s family member in cold blood. An innocent pet in it's own yard meaning no harm to anyone. I do want justice to be served to the full extent of the law, but two years seems like much too short of time for people that obviously do not value life. What these “children” don't fully understand is how tight the special forces community is. They will pay long after they are released, and they deserve it I shutter to say. I would hate to be in their shoes at this moment in time. Is it wrong to feel zero sympathy if they just disappeared one day? I am disgusted and hope a lesson is learned by other potential dirt bags of similar breed as the one's who have done this. It IS murder, not just a case of “animal cruelty” in my opinion.

That job will fall to nfcu Eric Holder, a veteran prosecutor who has been chosen as attorney general, and Gregory Craig, a lawyer with extensive national security experience who has been selected as Mr. Obama’s White House counsel. A good place for them to start would be to reverse Mr. Bush’s disastrous order of Feb. 7, 2002, declaring that the United States was no longer legally committed to comply with the Geneva Conventions.

Wow What a book, this is the second time to read it and it is amazing that he survived such a vicuious attack. It would be an honor to thank him in person for his serving and letting folks like me live in the land of the free and brave. I also am a fellow TEXAN and do not live far from where he was raised according to the book. We need more people like him that are relentless when faced with adversity. Hope life is good Chuck and God Bless You and your family.

I hope that those responsible for this horrendous act suffer greatly. I would love to just drop them off in Afganistan wearing American Flag t-shirts. See how long those cowards make it.

To Mr. Luttrell, I am deeply sorry for your loss, and cannot begin to express my gratitude for your service.

This was the most HORRIBLE CRIME committed against a Dog and against his Owner, An American Hero home from the War…..Marcus Luttrell you are AMERICAS HERO and I Thank-You for fighting for our freedom, but, I am SO-O-O SORRY for you to have to go through such a heart-breaking ordeal.  Everyone has to pay for WHAT they do in this life and those PUNKS that shot your Dog WILL SURELY PAY in the Criminal Justice System in Texas. I know, I used to work for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice.  I am so Sad that you lost your faithful companion and therapy dog….I Love Dogs and cried when I read and seen the Glen Beck Video.  I have a Male Blonde Lab puppy which will be 1 year old this Dec. 2011 and this Dog is HUGE and would be a Good Protector and Therapy Dog for you if you would like to give him a good home. Let me know as I am on Facebook and would love to give you a dog of mine,  GOD BLESS YOU and may Dasy Rest In Peace. You and Dasy will forever be in my thoughts and Prayers.  Suzanne Lawson – Texas
